Azerbaijan Launches New Military Operation in Nagorno-Karabakh, Violating Ceasefire

Reports are emerging that Azerbaijan has launched a new military operation in Nagorno-Karabakh, violating the ceasefire regime that has been in place. Azerbaijani forces have reportedly advanced on the ground, with particular focus on the area of Lisagor in southwest Karabakh.

Azerbaijan is said to be looking to tighten its blockade of Karabakh, and has amassed troops in the area in preparation for taking control of an alternative road that circumvents the blocked part of the corridor. This move is seen as a direct violation of the Nov 9 trilateral statement that set the contact line with Artsakh.

According to an advisor to the state minister of Artsakh, the Azerbaijani army has crossed the contact line with Artsakh and made a positional improvement to control the mountainous civilian road bypassing Shushi. This is a worrying development that could have serious consequences for the region.

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense had indirectly announced the imminent aggression by publishing videos of trucks and construction works. This move is seen as a clear provocation and a violation of the ceasefire agreement.

The situation in Nagorno-Karabakh remains tense, with both sides accusing each other of violating the ceasefire agreement. The international community has called for calm and for both sides to respect the ceasefire, but the situation on the ground continues to be volatile.

The new military operation by Azerbaijan is likely to escalate tensions in the region and lead to more violence. It is imperative that both sides exercise restraint and refrain from any actions that could further destabilize the region. The international community must also step up its efforts to find a lasting solution to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.
