Ukrainian troops are still present in the western part of Bakhmut, but Russian troops are making an advance along the Pivnichnyi pond towards the Bakhmut playground.

Russian forces have advanced westward across the rail line from the city centre, pushing further into the western districts of the city.

Around Ivanivske and the forest area to the west, Ukrainian defenses hold up well. By doing this they are keeping one of Bakhmut's remaining exits clear.

General Updates:

The US announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth $325 million, the U.S. Department of defense reports.

Germany has handed over the second of four promised Iris-T SLM air defense systems to Ukraine. The delivery of the Iris-T system and 16 guided missiles took place a few days ago, around the 16th of April.

Spanish Leopard 2A4 tanks and M113 APCs reached the port of Santander in Spain their final destination is Ukraine.

Ukraine will ask for urgent supplies of air defense missiles, as stocks indeed are running low, reports Financial Times. It is suspected that this will be one of the main subjects during the upcoming Ramstein meeting which will occur in 2 days.

The Russian national basketball team will not be allowed to qualify for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. This decision was made by the International Basketball Federation.
